Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil

First, you may be wondering, “What is synthetic oil?” Synthetic oil is comprised of base oil, powder additives, and a carrier oil that allows the additives to be distributed evenly. Similar to regular oil, it’s made from refined crude oils. The amount of refining done is the main difference between the two types of oil. Synthetic oil is refined, distilled, purified, and broken down at the molecular level, which gives it several advantages over conventional oil, including:

  • Less friction due to similar molecule sizes
  • Reduced deposits
  • Cleaner engine operation due to additives
  • Higher performance in extreme climates
  • Fewer impurities in the final product
