Kanawha State Forest

Nature lovers interested in West Virginia state parks can check out the Kanawha State Forest. This forest is 7 miles south of Charleston and covers 9,3000 acres. There are a variety of hiking and biking trails, and when you need a rest, you can enjoy a meal at some most popular picnic areas in the state. After your hike or bike ride, you’ll certainly be hungry, so be sure to check out the best restaurants in Charleston.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort

When the weather gets cold and the snow starts to fall, we love to go skiing in West Virginia. There are a lot of places to choose from, but one of our favorite West Virginia ski resorts is Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Skiers and snowboarders alike enjoy the 244 acres of skiable terrain, including a 1,500 vertical drop. With about 180 of snow per season, this is a great place to enjoy winter weather activities.

Chestnut Creek Campground

Want to go camping in West Virginia? One of our favorite spots is Chestnut Creek Campground. Enjoy the sounds of nature at this fun campground. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table, and there are hot shower facilities and clean bathhouses, so you can still enjoy some creature comforts.

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races

The casinos in West Virginia let you roll the dice and bet on the odds. Hopefully, Lady Luck is in your favor! One of our favorite West Virginia casinos is Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. With almost 5,000 slot machines and more than 100 tables, there’s a game for everyone. Use some of your winnings to treat yourself to one of seven dining options here!
